A couple’s life is turned upside down when their daughter is cast in a controversial leading role. District Attorney’s Office: Ep. 26 – ACOLYTE DISASTER! Could This Be the End of Disney’s Star Wars? (2024) The first half of the film is more of a character study, as Annette, a deeply unhappy and lonely housewife, soon learns that her husband Ben is having an affair with famous actress Alicia. The second half of the film is more of a thriller, where we start to pick up the pace and the wheels in Annette’s head start to turn. The film is a real slow burner: first cold and wintry, then hot and full of life, and in the final act explosive. Suspenseful, engaging and unsettling throughout. It is based on a wonderful performance by Daisy Ridley. She is a real revelation. Her quiet moment of anger explodes. There’s an iconic scene where she smashes a mirror after being pushed into it for a few moments, symbolizing their crumbling marriage. Shazad Latif is also good here. The film has some general aspects. The trailer is a bit misleading. It can drag on at times and be a bit tiresome. The ending may be cathartic and satisfying for some viewers and neutral for others. Hiba Ahmed, as Matilda’s daughter, the performances of children in the film are often not very good. She felt more like a prop than a character. And Matilda Lutz is really beautiful, charming and convincing as a movie star in the context of the film, and that’s fine. Perhaps because of Lutz’s Italian, many of her lines sounded awkward or stagnant. If you like thrillers with strong acting, especially those involving female angst, sensuality and infidelity, this will be right up your alley.
