Benoit finds himself in debt and is forced to ask his rich parents for help again. His plan to get money is to make them believe that he is marrying his model friend Emily. The young couple is invited to Morocco to meet the whole family. When Emily cancels the trip on the way to the airport, Benoit decides to invite his chatty Uber driver Fiona instead. This is only for… Thanksgiving. I had the opportunity to see this movie at a preview, and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for it, because it was really mediocre. Let’s start with the worst part: the script is completely empty, and the humor is simply stupid, devoid of any trace of wit. Vulgarity is everywhere, which wouldn’t be a problem if there was any subtlety, but no, it’s just vulgarity for vulgarity’s sake, probably aimed at pleasing a certain type of audience. In short, there’s nothing special to say about this French comedy. Of course, Michel Larocque and Gerard Dormont are experienced actors who have nothing to prove, but what were they doing in this disaster? However, a pleasant surprise was the male lead, who I did not know before, but he gives a solid performance and adds some value to the film. I also liked the opening scenes with the kidnappers, which were well shot, but, unfortunately, the rest of the film was not finished.
